The Konkombri area has a vast wildlife diversity, ranging from dangerous game to birds. The vegetation of the area is composed of scrubby savanna mixed with small open plains. The Konkombri area is located between the Atacora mountains and the Pendjari river.
Lions are well represented within in the area. The males have few manes as is characteristic for lions in West Africa. The lions of Konkombri compete with many other predators such as: leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackals.
Of the African big game species, the area contains high number of West African savanna buffalo, hippo and Elephants.
The area has a large diversity of plains game species unique to West Africa such as: Western roan, Nagor reedbuck, Western kob, Sing sing waterbuck, Harnassed bushbuck etc.
West Africa is well known for its amazing variety in birdlife. They are well represented in the Konkombri area.
